A new radio station could soon be broadcasting out of Hillsborough. After four years of planning, WHUP, the brainchild of Bill Burtman and other residents, is expected to hit the airwaves in May. WHUP will be broadcasted through the frequency 104.7 FM, and will primarily air music and programming related to public affairs. The plan is for the station to have a focus on local music, airing in-studio performances and live broadcasts of local performances. More.../features.html |

The Boy’s Varsity Basketball started the season 1-3. They will play five teams before Christmas break. The only conference games Cedar Ridge will play before the break are against Northern Vance and Southern Durham. The Girl’s Varsity Basketball team is 3-1 so far this season. Like the Boy’s Basketball team, they will play five teams before break. Southern Durham and Northern Vance will be Cedar Ridge’s only conference games. The Cedar Ridge Boy’s and Girl’s Swim teams are 1-1 this season. Senior Elliot Orlowski said “The main thing that our team needs to focus on is practicing hard and completing practice. Chapel Hill and Cardinal are very tough opponents, and the only way we have a chance to get the win is for everyone to really apply themselves at practice.” They have upcoming meets against Cardinal Gibbons, Chapel Hill, and Northern Vance before break. The Boy’s Wrestling team has already had two matches. They wrestled at the Orange High School Thanksgiving Quad as well as against Chapel Hill. On December 5-6, the team competed at Orange high school in the Jim King/Orange invitational tournament. On December 10th, they wrestled against Northern Vance. |
